Expanded role for Cosgrove in Channel 4 restructure

Stuart Cosgrove, director of nations and regions for Channel four has been given the new position of director of creative diversity as the broadcaster announces that it is set to invest an extra £50m in programming.

Cosgrove, who has worked in the role in Glasgow for the last eight year has seen his role expanded to see him also made responsible for driving the commissioning of multi-platform content from new companies from through out the regions.

Cosgrove commented; “It’s no secret that I am passionate about talent and creativity, whether that is regionally-based companies, digital media or the best small companies in Britain.”

He continued to say; “I’m on record as saying that broadcasting can be complacent and in particular has failed creative companies from diverse backgrounds. I will bring my energy to all areas of creative diversity but that will be a priority.”

Channel 4 has also announced that it will spend an extra £50 million on programming having restructured its content and commissioning team with Richard Davidson-Houston as head of online. He will be responsible for all of Channel 4’s online propositions and commissioning and will report to Acting chief creative officer Julian Bellamy.
