Lager brand Tennent’s has announced that it has become the sponsor of Preston North End football club in a deal worth around £1m.

Its sponorship of PNE will run alongside shirt deals with Rangers and Celtic and is the brand’s first involvement with English football since it supported the Charity Shield competition in the early 90s.

Tennent's will look to build its brand distribution in England's north west and grow its presence in pubs, bars and restaurants in the Preston area.

The club will also serve the lager within its Deepdale stadium.

Fans who have already bought a replica shirt for this season will be entitled to have the shirt rebranded to a Tennent’s shirt free of charge and will also receive a £5 gift voucher from the Club shop.
