A controversial BBC fly on the wall documentary, dubbed ‘poverty porn’ by some critics, is to return to our TV screens following conclusion of a court case against one of its ‘stars’.

The series was prematurely curtailed earlier when 17 year old Steven McMurray, who featured prominently in the final two episodes, was charged with assault. Legal concerns led to the show being taken off air over concerns its broadcast would prejudice the live court case against him.

McMurray however has pled guilty to assault and breach of the peace, clearing the way for the BBC to air the disputed episodes.

The show regularly drew audiences of 350,000 but McMurray will not be amongst their number for the remainder having been sentenced to a four month stint in a young offenders institute for battering a bus passenger to the floor in Hamilton whilst armed with a pair of scissors.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that McMurray then told the bus driver: “you’re getting it next, f***ing grass,” before going on to headbutt and punch a door prior to disembarking.

It follows news that fellow show participant Marvin Baird has generated his own fanclub and line in merchandise.
