Merseytravel has worked with Liverpool digital agency Mando Group to create a website for its public art initiative, Art on the Network.

The transport operator has commissioned art pieces around its network, at stations and terminuses and the website uses Bing Maps to show visitors where they can find them.

There is detailed information about the art on display and information for artists wanting to get involved in the project.

Neil Scales, chief executive of Merseytravel, said: "The site showcases the Art on the Network initiative extremely well. It is engaging and clear from a user’s point of view, but it’s also very flexible, allowing us to control and update information quickly and efficiently.”

Mando created the site using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) technology. The agency said Merseytravel’s IT team can use it as "test piece" through which they can explore the MOSS platform's opportunities for its other sites.
