APS has designs on St Andrew’s Awards

Rosalind Bowen, designer at APS Group, has designed the St Andrew’s Award medal, which replaces the First Minister’s Commendation for Meritorious Conduct as the official Scottish Government recognition for bravery.

The Scottish designer’s work was presented by First Minister Alex Salmond to six Scots who were commended having demonstrated exceptional bravery at the first annual Brave@Heart Award ceremony at Edinburgh Castle yesterday (Thursday 10 June).

The six awarded Scots were:

Kirsten Elder and Riah Holland, aged just 14, saved a woman from jumping from a bridge over a busy road in GlenrothesPC Steven Gilmour saved a man from drowning from Ardrossan harbourAlexander Cowan risked his own safety to intervene and save a member of the public from assault in EdinburghLock Keeper Allan Grant saved an elderly woman from drowning in the Caledonia CanalDavid Bruce, aged only 15, confronted burglars who held scissors to his throat at his home in Dundee
