Actor, writer, broadcaster and Twitter aficionado, Stephen Fry has announced ‘the most beautiful tweet ever tweeted’ at this year’s Hay Festival.

Fry announced the winner at the literary festival as “I believe we can build a better world! Of Course, it’ll take a whole lot of rock, water & dirt. Also, not sure where to put it.”

The tweet was sent by Marc MacKenzie from Canada who had been shortlisted, having won a national competition in Canada.

Tweets must be no longer than 140 characters, with organisers placing entrants in separate categories such as Most Eloquent, Most Evocative and Best Pun.
