Tayburn was awarded the Design Grand Prix at this year's Scottish Design Awards with its Ace of Hearts stationery for Doctor Thomas Shaw.

The Edinburgh headquartered agency fended off competition from hundreds of entries to scoop the top graphical design prize at the 2010 awards.

Also picking up a top accolade, winning the Design Chairman’s Award chosen by Erik Spiekermann, was Freight for its Gutter Magazine.

On the architecture side, the Grand Prix went to Malcolm Fraser Architects for Scottish Ballet at the Tramway, while Chairman of the architecture panel Roger Zogolovitch (from Solid Space Development Ltd) chose Groves-Raines Architects for the Composting Shed at Inverleith Terrace to win his Chairman’s Award.

Former Scottish Comedian of the Year, Mark Nelson entertained the audience before a short film, created by Family (above), introduced the awards.

The full results and all the winning work can be seen here.

A selection of pictures from the event are now also up online.
