Renault has become embroiled in a legal tussle with a French student after the vehicle manufacturer opted to name their latest fleet of electric cars 'Zoe'.

This follows in a long line of perky first names intended to impart personality to the vehicles which in the past has seen the names Megane, Clio and Dyane used.

Student Zoe Renault however, has been driven crazy by the coincidental name clash fearing that a looming marketing blitz will subsume her identity to that of the vehicle brand.

Speaking to Le Parisien she said “It would be unbearable for me to hear, ‘The Zoe has broken down,’ ‘we have to get the Zoe overhauled,’ or ‘so and so killed themselves in a Zoe’.”

In a statement Renault insisted that the name was solely that of the concept car with a decision on the production model yet to be made.
