A full colour page advert ran in yesterday’s edition of The Times newspaper to support environmental charity Save our Seas Foundation, created by The Bank.

The agency donated the space to the foundation, which funds 142 scientific projects worldwide, to highlight the campaign which focuses on the near extinction of the endangered shark population, with specific emphasis on the Hammerhead.

The print ad has been created using an illustrative style reminiscent of 1970’s cinema poster art, featuring a young boy happily swimming with his friend a shark named ‘Hammer’ and on first glance looks like a classic poster ad for a final performance of what appears to be a family orientated film.

However, on closer inspection the imagery is juxtaposed by factual copy that brings home the hard hitting and shocking message that these animals are in serious danger of extinction.

Chris Clarke, CEO, Save Our Seas Foundation, commented: “We are extremely grateful for The Bank’s continued support. As a young charity with limited funds we cannot afford to finance big marketing campaigns for ourselves. Their unconventional take on a fund-raising campaign will not only create awareness but hopefully, also come as a front runner to some truly alarming research results we will be publishing in July 2010. It is vital that people understand the impact of shark finning and the very real danger it poses both to individual shark species and the entire marine eco system which is being affected as a result.”
