Northern Rock has not denied that it is set to review it media account with MediaVest Manchester - although a spokesperson has said that such reviews are "commonplace" if one were indeed to take place.

It has been reported by Campaign that the Government-owned financial brand was set to hold a review of its £2million account, a value that the brand has queried however.

The report said that agencies were being contacted directly by the bank ahead of it marketing its new range of savings and mortgages.

A spokesperson told The Drum: “No we have not confirmed that a review is being held. We do frequently conduct reviews of all policies, procedures and contracts to make sure that they are appropriate in meeting the needs of the customer and the company.”

The spokesperson added that they did not know where the reported £2 million figure "had come from" and said that it was "healthy" to ensure that contracts were continually reviewed and that "there was always a potential" towards a review.

MediaVest Manchester has held the account with Northern Rock since 1997.
