Boorman becomes face of motorcycle insurance firm

Charley Boorman, the actor known for his motorcycling adventures with Ewan McGregor, has been snapped us as brand ambassador for Carole Nash, the UK and Ireland motorcycle insurance company.

Boorman, who with McGregor travelled around the world by motorbike for the BBC series Long Way Round and Long Way Down, will support the brand's press and marketing drives.

His responsibilities will include attending motorcycle shows and providing a fortnightly blog for the company's website.

Carole Nash customers will get discounts on his books, DVDs and tickets for his shows.

“As a vocal and high profile supporter of biking and bikers Charley is the ideal ambassador for Carole Nash,” said the company’s head of marketing, Rebecca Donohue. “He’s a likeable and appealing character, not just to our core demographic but the wider public to whom we, as an industry, need to communicate the benefits and joys of motorcycling. He will be a great asset."

Boorman's public profile was raised by his gruelling BBC biking challenges. In 2004 he travelled with McGregor from London to New York by bike and in 2007 he and the Scottish actor journeyed from John o'Groats to Cape Town.
