Champion downhill mountain bike racer Steve Peat is to launch an App for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, created by Liverpool mobile technology agency Apposing.

The app will take the form of a game and will launch to coincide with the 2010 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, which will be held at Fort William at the beginning of June.

The game will feature professional mountain bike racers, as well as Peat, racing against each other.

New content will continually be uploaded to the app in order to maintain its appeal and keep it fresh, allowing players access to the newest bikes and kit on the market.

This content can be accessed via the virtual 3D bike shop and players can acquire additional kit/items through in-app purchasing.

“Being the first App of its kind, 'Steve Peat - Downhill Mountain Biking' takes full advantage of Apples’ technology by providing players with unique interactivity capturing the fast and frantic game-play derived from this extreme sport," said David Brown, managing director of Apposing.

Steve Peat, added: "We are confident that this game will raise the bar within the extreme sports genre, while appealing to new and existing fans including the mountain biking community."
