The Firm magazine acquired from Carnyx as part of MBO
Scottish legal magazine and website The Firm has been acquired by its editor Steven Raeburn as part of an MBO
He has formed a new business, Red Cloud Publishing, to publish The Firm magazine, its website www.thefirmmagazine.co.uk and produce the Trainee Handbook.
The Carnyx Group, which also publishes The Drum and Urban Realm magazine, will continue to produce the Law Awards of Scotland and the Recommended Law Firm Guide.
The Carnyx Group's publisher, Gordon Young, said of the deal: "When Steven approached us with the idea of taking over The Firm it made real sense as it fitted in with our decision to focus on our creative publishing business and our event management products.
"We are sure The Firm will continue to do very well under Steven's leadership and we look forward to working with him in the future, particularly with regards to the Law Awards."
Raeburn said: "These are fascinating times for the Scottish legal profession with such issues as the Tesco Law controversy and the future role of the Law Society very much on the agenda. There has never been more need for an independent law magazine such as The Firm to provide object analysis of these areas."
