An affair dating website for married people, which has just launched in Australia, has told The Drum that it is planning to open itself up to the UK and European markets in the near future.

AshleyMadison.com, which uses the stapline ’Life is short. Have an affair‘ and 'guarantees' affairs for married people, has already caused controversy in Australia where is has just launched over the last few weeks.

Noel Biderman, founder of AshleyMadison.com, told The Drum that he planned to open the service up to the UK and European markets, having already soft launched here.

"We have soft launched in the UK (allowing UK citizens to register and use the service) however, we have not begun our marketing campaign there as of yet. Our international focus for 2010 is Australia, The UK, Brazil and Germany and the plan is to start a multi-million dollar marketing campaign in the UK this summer after we finish our launch in Australia which is presently taking place,” he told The Drum.

According to the company, around 40,000 Australians have already signed up to the service which is expected to grow following the imminent launch of its marketing campaign.
