The Gin Palace, a new design company based in Glasgow, is to curate and host a series of pop-up design exhibitions around Scotland.

Launched by three directors - Ruth Black, Leah Black and Greg Reid - The Gin Palace will establish a new venue in Glasgow to showcase and sell the work of selected, emerging and established designers with some connection to Scotland. Once it is established the business will comprise three distinct but integrated strands: a gallery; a shop; and a café/bar.

In order to create a buzz around The Gin Palace, for the next year and in the run up to opening a permanent space, they will curate and host a series of pop-up design exhibitions, showing the work of the designers. With one event already under their belt, The Gin Palace is currently making plans for the second, which will happen on the 9, 10 and 11 April 2010.

Working with Lambert Smith Hampton, a commercial property company in Glasgow, The Gin Palace will host their second pop-up design event in 12-16 South Frederick Street.

The trio worked alongside Credential Holdings renting the old Stirlings Library for its first pop-up design event ‘The Shape Of Things To Come’ showcasing and selling the work of 30 designers working in all disciplines (fashion, jewellery, ceramics, furniture, lighting, rugs, textiles, illustration, animation).

The second event is titled ‘Details To Follow’.

The event is sponsored by Caorunn Gin, a small batch production Scottish Gin.
