The Liberal Democrats are mocking their 'Labservative' rivals in a new guerilla marketing and social media push created by iris.

Although it features no Lib Dem branding, the aim of the campaign is to position the party as "the real alternative" in the upcoming election and snare voters wavering between Labour and the Conservatives.

A 2-minute film, hosted by caricature 'Labservative leader' Gorvid Camerown, aims to parody traditional election campaigns and highlight similarities between Labour and the Tories.

Shaun McIlrath, executive creative director of iris, said “The Labservative idea has been designed around a real consumer truth – that the vast majority of the electorate find Labour and Conservative MPs and their policies almost indistinguishable."

The film is running on YouTube and a specially-created Labservative website. To try and make the campaign go viral Gorvid Camerown also has his own Twitter page.
