Earlier this month, an event to light up Hadrians wall was promoted by Osprey Communications.

The event saw over 1,000 volunteer illuminators create a chain of 500 lights along the 84-mile long Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail.

As part of the campaign, the Cumbria based consultancy set up and ran a Facebook page and Twitter profile on Emperor Hadrian, while it also secured international media coverage from China Central TV and German ZDF, which were among those filming the event as the line of light made its way from coast-to-coast.

BBC News 24 also covered the event live, while the BBC and Sky News both ran the story in the morning, while BBC’s Countryfile programme ran two features on the preparations leading up to the event.

The Guardian also ran a double page photo following the event as well.

Paul Gardner, managing director of Osprey, commented: "It's been a great experience for the whole team being involved in an event that has generated so much enthusiasm. We were working flat out in the month before the event but the results made it all worthwhile.”

Gardner added, "It's also been rather interesting Tweeting as the Emperor Hadrian! Social media has played a huge part in the success of Illuminating Hadrian’s Wall, helping to recruit the volunteer Illuminators and to capture the imagination of so many people in the event."
