The Guttridges open Smoking Gun

Former Brazen man Rick Guttridge and his wife Vanessa have officially opened a new public relations and social media agency in Manchester.

The pair have been working to get the agency off the ground in recent weeks and have now finally gone public to launch Smoking Gun PR, which takes its name from a Sherlock Holmes novel.

Managing director Rick Guttridge said: “There’s plenty of room in the market for Smoking Gun and the reception we’ve been given so far has been amazing.

“It’s a great time to launch as the economy appears past the worst of the recession but whilst marketing budgets have still not recovered to previous levels, we can offer clients top quality solutions with flexible costs. The market so far this year seems buoyant based on the number of pitches around."

Rick had been tipped to start up his own agency after leaving Brazen, where he had a spell as MD, in October. Vanessa has been a freelance PR for three years and before that worked at agencies including Communique, Communicado and Event Associates.

Together they have recruited a third staff member and have already picked up business with Panda Licorice and Taskers Home Store.
