Former directors of RealtimeUK and Smoothe have joined forces to open Flipbook, a new CGI and visual FX studio in Manchester.

The business has been launched by Andrew Lord, who was business development director at RealtimeUK before leaving last week, and Ben Haworth, previously studio head and creative director at Smoothe's Manchester office.

It sees the pair reunited having previously worked together at post-production facility Redvision in Manchester.

They say their new company's main focus is partnering with digital, advertising and design agencies, as well as production houses and video games studios, to produce digital content and animations.

The firm will specialise in CGI and effects for TV commercials, promotional trailers and print campaigns, as well as re-purposing the assets created to produce interactive online ads.

Lord said: "We've set-up to offer CGI animation and broadcast visual effects, with an added impetus on partnering and collaborative working to create more unique and rounded CG solutions.

"We’re particularly experienced in digital and the incorporation of CG visual techniques with the latest communications technology and social media applications. So whether it's augmented reality or shakily-shot viral movies we've got the experience and an already well established resource of artists and developers at our disposal to produce attractive animations and interactive solutions."
