Manchester based research consultancy Blue Banana is set to be acquired by McMann Manchester as it looks to strengthen its planning, research and insight functions.

Blue Banana’s name will be retained following the acquisition while the team of five will work alongside the McCann planning team of seven at Bonis Hall.

The research agency is currently based around the corner from its soon-to-be new base of Basil Chambers, in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.

McCann will also install a focus group facility at its centre Metro offices with the aim of allowing the agency to develop its consumer behavior insights online as well as across traditional media and will see the company look to build an NPD and innovation services for potential and existing clients.

Jamie Peate, managing director of Blue Banana said, “This is a great fit and will allow us to develop our offering to a broader spectrum of clients and importantly create new services especially in the digital space. Blue Banana has built a strong reputation for itself and it is testimony to all of my colleagues that an agency the size and scale of McCann has recognised what we have achieved.”

McCann Manchester CEO Sue Little added: “Consumer insight is central to everything we are developing for clients and the knowledge and expertise this deal brings will really help us to stand out in the marketplace. Importantly it also provides a platform for us to really build insights into consumer behaviour online and this will be pivotal to our future digital growth plans.”
