Ripon's Green Lane PR and Leeds-based Blue Sky PR have merged to create a six-strong agency which retains Blue Sky's name.

The new agency will be based in Old Broadcasting House in Leeds and is headed by co-directors, Richard Hamer and David Moss-Blundell.

Both are former journalists who worked for regional newspapers, the Press Association and Yorkshire PR agencies before opening their own PR firms in the mid-2000s.

Web design and online strategist Jeremy Griffin and graphic design consultant Chris Beadle, plus two support staff, complete the team.

Hamer said: “The last couple of years have been a time of relative gloom and doom, particularly for the marketing sector. We all know that marketing spend is one of the first things to suffer in a recession and the PR industry has been hit particularly hard in this region.

“However, the signs now are that the worst is over and it’s blue skies ahead. We aim to position ourselves at the forefront of the regional industry for when things really pick up again, hence we have kept the name Blue Sky PR because it seems appropriate at this time.

“Between us, we can handle all areas of PR and communications, providing a one-stop shop for all PR and design needs. Both David and myself worked within the Press Association’s groundbreaking new media division in the 1990s and so have particular strengths in the digital, online and social media PR, as well as the traditional areas such as newspaper, television and radio.”
