Mari Laidlaw, brand manager of Morrison Bowmore, is to leave the industry to return to university.

Laidlaw, who has been with the company for three years during which time she has overseen the development of whisky brands Glen Garioch and McClellands, is to return to studying part-time as she aims to become a nutritionist.

She joined Morrison Bowmore in November 2006 from Inverhouse Distillers where she held a similar post.

"I've come in and significantly changed the two brands which are now completely different to the brands that I began this role with. That makes me proud whenever I see them," Laidlaw told The Drum.

Kirsteen Beeston, international marketing manager for E&J Gallo, who has been overseeing the brand portfolio of Bowmore, Auchentoshan, Glen Garioch and McClellands since joining the business in May 2009, is to take on the role of brand manager at Morrison Bowmore from Monday.
