Ecommerce firm Drive Business has entered into a consultation period for its Scottish based marketing division as the company looks to move the division to London ahead of plans for expansion.

Drive Business has confirmed that ‘a small number’ of its team based in Dundonald are affected by the consultation period and has offered them a move to London, while others, who were only on a contract basis, have left the team.

It had been indicated to The Drum by sources that redundancies had been made by the company, but Drive Business has denied this.

A spokesperson for the company explained that the consultation process was already in place and has been taken ahead of its expansion plans, which could see the majority of its recruitment of up to 60 people join in Scotland over the next year-and-a-half.

The company has cited ‘confidentiality’ in refusing to discuss details of those involved with the confidentiality process and said that legally it could not reveal details of the individuals involved.

They did however reveal that expansion plans will involve ‘external agencies’, but that these agreements have yet to be finalised.

Following the restructure, the company forsees that its London presence will become the centre for sales and marketing, while Scotland will house its development and production services.

“Most of the recruitment will take place in Scotland as there is little need to expand the skills in the London office. Most of the expansion will be in the development and programming side which will remain in Dundonald,” the spokesperson said.

There are currently 15 people based at the London office, which the company hopes to grow to no more than 20.

Drive Business's clients include Bench, Gio-Goi, Abahna, Kelly Brook and AllSaints, for which is has recently created an iPhone application in theUS.
