Subway has appointed driven to work on its advertising across the Granada and Yorkshire regions after adding the agency to its roster.

The Cheshire agency will work with McCann's London office, McKenna Townsend PR and Mediacom, which were all already on the sandwich chain's roster.

Driven was appointed after pitching against two other agencies, understood to be iris Manchester and BJL.

Subway's Mark Rannard said: "Competition in our marketplace has never been more aggressive. It is our intention to grow our business moving forward.

"We have a clear vision for our brand and were impressed with the driven team’s ability to understand this and bring it to life. The ideas the guys presented were exceptional."

Neil Griffiths, a partner at driven, said the win makes it a "great start to 2010" for the agency.

"The Subway brand is one that is recognised internationally. This brief gives us the opportunity to add more retail experience to our client list, and the opportunity to make some great ads."
