Arthur Porter, publisher of Crain's Manchester Business, has left the paper to "spend more time with his family and pursue other interests".

Crain's confirmed on its website today that Porter had decided to leave his post as publisher after two years.

In a statement on the site, group publisher, Cristopher Crain, said: "Crain's wishes Arthur all the best in his future endeavors. We remain committed to providing the greater Manchester area with top notch business news and information.”

Porter has been with the paper since its launch in Manchester and was notorious for his no-nonsense policy on advertising rates during the title's early days.

Kathryn Toledano is expected to assume Porter's duties after she was recently promoted from advertising director to associate publisher of the paper.
