Police Mutual, the affinity friendly society that provides financial products and services for retired and serving officers, has selected Manchester's Cuckoo Design to revamp its web presence.

The agency was appointed after a four-way competitive pitch and has been briefed to create a new online platform that will improve the experience for Police Mutual's 210,000 members.

The society does not have a branch network or sales team and is looking to improve the online customer journey to fend off increasing competition.

Cuckoo will first devise a trial version of the website that will be tested on a group of members and non-members to gauge the customer experience. Feedback will be used to refine the test portal and it will then replace Police Mutual's current website (pictured).

Donna Kerr, head of marketing communication at Police Mutual, said: “This was a challenging brief and a major investment for Police Mutual. As a business we recognise the potential the web offers in terms of engaging with our target audience, and our intention is to move to a web environment that develops customer relationships."
