St Andrews Links Trust is working with Avian Digital, the Dundee-based agency, to create a new website for the Home of Golf.

The Trust manages and maintains the seven public courses at the Home of Golf, including the world famous Old Course and the latest addition to the family, The Castle Course.

St Andrews Links' website attracts millions of hits a year and is a key part of its strategy for communicating with golfers around the world who aspire to visit the birthplace of the game.

Avian has been tasked by the Trust's management team with developing a new site which contains more interactive content and is easier to navigate than the current website. It will include a host of new features and services.

Alan McGregor, chief executive of St Andrews Links Trust, said: “The Links website is an extremely important communications tool for us in providing information and services to the thousands of golfers around the world who take an interest in St Andrews.

“Avian has been tasked with bringing the website up-to-date and with creating more dynamic content as well as making it more user friendly. We are pleased to be working with Avian and have been impressed with their approach to the project.”

The project involves expanding the online shop and increasing the scope of the online booking engine and preparing the site for integration with revamped backend systems. The new site will also feature a range of course microsites including one for the 2010 Open, and interactive features including fly-throughs.

The new site will be launched at the annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando Florida in January 2010.
