Robert Harwood-Matthews is to return to TBWA Group UK as president, replacing Tim Lindsay.

Harwood-Matthews left heading up the Manchester office of TBWA as chief exeuctive in January to work in Los Angeles.

In September he left TBWA completely to join fellow Omnicom company PHD in San Francisco as executive vice-president and was charged with the running of its Los Angeles office as well, replacing Sue Taylor in the role.

His new role will see him based in London.

In a statement, Harwood-Matthews said: "Coming back to London is great. Huge shifts have happened, grouping all our activities around Media Arts and Disruption in one building was a first step, but there is more to do.

"Together with Mark Hunter we will push creativity further. And embrace the worldwide D.N.A. of TBWA - Disruption and Media Arts in everything we do."

The shock and speedy return has meant that already rumours have begun to circle that his return could be a factor in the company retaining the Nissan account, an account he worked closely on, which was recently speculated as being up for pitch.

Perry Valkenburg, President Europe and COO International, commented: “We have to thank Tim Lindsay for everything he has done for TBWA over the last years. He is well respected in the industry. Tim managed to regroup our London based companies around Media Arts and Disruption, and leaves the company in a good position. We wish him all the best for his future.”
