Steve Leach, co-founder and CEO of digital agency bigmouthmedia has taken on a new executive board level role with Mark Bole, former vice president of Nokia being announced as his successor.

Leach will now look to take a new executive board-level role where he will direct group strategy while Bole takes over the day-to-day management of bigmouth’s offices across Europe and the US but plans to remain based predominantly in the company’s Edinburgh office.

"I am delighted to be joining bigmouthmedia at such a pivotal moment in its development. It has a fantastic brand, a gilt-edged client list and is uniquely positioned to gain competitive advantage in an exploding sector, so I'm very much looking forward to being part of the next stage in the company's growth," said Bole.

Bole spent 12 years at mobile phone brand Nokia in a variety of roles across its European and Far Eastern operations, before being named vice president.

He left in 2001 to serve as president and COO of telecommunications software company Incomit before it was acquired by BEA systems in 2005.

Bole has most recently acted as CEO of media service provider ShoZu.

Leach commented: "The search for a new Group CEO has been both intensive and long, but I believe that in Mark Bole we have picked a winner. He has held roles at a very senior level with several technology heavyweights, and has coal-face experience of running complex multi-territory European organisations as well as mergers, acquisitions and the challenges these events can throw up. He is supremely well qualified for the position and beat off very stiff competition to land the role.

“While my time as CEO has been both enjoyable and demanding, I believe the company will benefit from a fresh perspective, and am taking on a new role to allow that to happen,” he continued.

Leach explained that following the transition period, he planned to focus on the strategic guidance of the business and that he was very much looking forward to seeing bigmouthmedia go to the next level.

Meanwhile, The Drum has also learned that the agency’s marketing manager, Pamela Brankin is to leave the company as it looks to create a ‘more senior’ marketing position.

Brankin joined the agency having previously served as marketing manager for Edinburgh rival Ambergreen and communications manager at Dundee & Tayside Chamber of Commerce.
