The Leith Agency has designed a book to accompany As Others See Us, the Homecoming Exhibition created by Tricia Malley and Ross Gillespie, collectively known as Broad Daylight.

The publication, which was launched on The Leith’s barge, has introductory texts by Julie Lawson of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and Professor David Purdie, it features images of – and texts by – Eddi Reader, Aamer Anwar, Peter Howson, Christopher Brookmyre, Hardeep Singh Kohli and Clan Chief Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor, to name but a few.

It is a celebration of Scottish culture, reflecting and conveying through words and pictures the work of Robert Burns – not only to the people of Scotland but to a wider audience.

Culture Minister Michael Russell said: “This meld of first-class portraiture and eloquent verse demonstrates exactly why Robert Burns work remains relevant 250 years after his birth. ‘As Others See Us’ celebrates the creativity of our artists and the influence Burns’ work continues to exert on people across Scotland and beyond. This is exactly why we are celebrating his life and work throughout this year.”

The exhibition runs at the National Galleries on the Mound Edinburgh until 7th November 2009. The book is available from the National Galleries shop, bookstores or directly from Luath Press price £9.99. See other images at www.broaddaylightltd.co.uk
