Sheridan&Co has designed the first ever cupcake bar in Selfridges & Co for the fashionable London bakery LOLA’S.

Retail design experts Sheridan&Co has designed the LOLA’S cupcake bar which opened in the famous Food Hall at the London department store this week.

The cupcake bar is a major development for the LOLA’S Kitchen business, which has until now only retailed in Selfridges as part of a general display of cakes and patisserie.

The cupcake bar is a dedicated, 27 square metre area for LOLA’S, and includes a full display of the cakes plus a seating area of tables, chairs and a banquette.

LOLA’S Kitchen, based at its bakery in Primrose Hill, has caught the eye of the editors of fashion and lifestyle magazines and has also developed a sizeable customer base in the corporate market.

The cupcake bar is being promoted within Selfridges, with teaser campaigns of wall graphics counting down the days until the new installation is open for business.

Sheridan&Co, which has designed the retail presence of several luxury brands in various sectors in Selfridges, has applied its expertise to encapsulate the spirit and joy of LOLA’S brand and products in the cupcake bar.

The design features wood and glass displays set against a backdrop of white on which sits the LOLA’S brand identity. Sheridan&Co has adapted the existing powdery, sugar-dusted monochrome logo into a solid, multicoloured brand which visually projects more effectively in a retail landscape.

The cakes are displayed with much more reverence and celebration than would be found in a standard bakery display. A tower carries the colour-coded menu of cakes available, colours which match the trays on which the cakes sit.

Michael Sheridan, Sheridan&Co chief executive, said: “LOLA’S is a delightful brand and a very fine bakery which produces exquisite cakes. The installation we have designed for LOLA’S in Selfridges captures that joie de vivre in a fresh, crisp design which gives clarity to the brand’s proposition and enables the cakes to visually sing. I defy anyone to visit and not to buy at least one cupcake.”

Victoria Jossel and Romy Lewis, founders of LOLA’s Kitchen said, “We are thrilled to open our first cupcake bar in the Selfridges food hall. With outstanding service, the finest cupcakes, the best coffee and an amazing location, we know this will be a favourite destination for Londoners and especially our already loyal clientele”.
