Jeremy Middleton, former chief executive of Media Square, has joined Fuse8 as a non-executive director.

Middleton has joined the Leeds-based agency to work with its management team in growing the business.

He originally opened Buxton-based Osborne PR in the 1980’s before working with local partners to build a network of small regional agencies called Equanim, which was bought by marketing group Media Square in 2002.

He subsequently became chief executive of the company but left in June 2007 when replaced by Roger Parry. It was recently rumored that he was interested in a take-over of the company, which he subsequently denied.

Middleton said: “Fuse8 is a new and exciting breed of marketing business that combines the successful application of leading edge technologies with a deep understanding of traditional marketing disciplines to create powerful, results-driven campaigns.

He continued: “The agency’s management team have a clear vision and its people possess a great deal of intelligence, dedication and ability. My role is to assist the business in achieving its stated objective by advising on growth plans as well as streamlining processes in order to ensure that Fuse8 maintains its significant competitive advantage.”

Nigel Hunter, managing director of Fuse8, added: “We are extremely pleased to have secured Jeremy as our non-executive director. He has an excellent understanding of our industry and has a proven track record in developing marketing services businesses through organic growth and acquisition.

“His entrepreneurial flair and commercial acumen will play an integral role in enabling us to achieve our objective of becoming one of the UK’s leading digital full service agencies in the short to medium term.”
