Merlin Entertainments has appointed Brazen to handle the PR for the launch of its £7.5m Legoland Discovery Centre at the The Trafford Centre in Manchester for Easter 2010.

The Manchester-based communications agency has been tasked with promoting the launch of the new family attraction to audiences across the North West.

Brazen’s campaign will begin immediately with the use of traditional and digital PR activity and will see it work closely with Merlin’s Corporate PR consultancy, The Firm and The Trafford Centre’s marketing team.

The account will be led by creative director Gary Bramwell and head of productions Daisy Whitehouse. The team also includes news editor Adam Moss, account manager Emma Trimble and account executive Nikki Girvan.

Rob Smith, marketing director for Legoland Discovery Centres, said: “This is a hugely important new opening for us and it was vital that we found the right PR consultancy to work with in the North West. Brazen’s insight into the brand, audience segmentation and North West media scene, coupled with their enthusiasm and creativity, made them the ideal partner for us. We’re looking forward to the team adding their bit of Brazen magic to the Legoland Discovery Centre experience.”

Nina Webb, owner of Brazen, commented: “Legoland Discovery Centre is a brilliant new concept which is sure to become another national treasure based in the North West. It is a real treat to be working with Merlin to launch what is absolutely the most exciting family visitor attraction to come to the region in a very long time.”
