Manchester visual effects and animation studio AHD Motion Imaging has relaunched as Mi.

The re-brand brings with it some structural changes within the company, with the appointment of a new creative director, Ian Hogg, and technical director, Gareth Thatcher.

Hogg has previously worked freelance with agencies including McCanns, TBWA, JWT and Love. Thatcher is promoted after five years at the firm.

Managing director of Mi, Tony Hartley-Denton, said: "When AHD Mi was initially launched the focus was predominantly on architectural projects. Increasingly we have been working on creatively-led briefs and animation work and the re-launch as Mi is a natural progression of our business model.

“We were also keen to recognise Gareth for his commitment and the contribution he has made – he has been a key part of the team for the last five years and helped shape Mi’s new direction. With a strong team in place we are well placed to build on our achievements to date and drive the business forward.”

As well as adopting a new name and logo, the Mi branding campaign includes the development of a new website.
