Drinks company Cool Apple has turned to Cheltenham-based Write Angle Creative Communication to create the look for the launch of its Friels cider.

Using retro pin-up imagery and red colouring, including a bright metallic neck foil for the bottle, Write Angle has created an identity that aims to offer shelf appeal while providing a talking point among consumers.

The retro styling has been designed to encourage both new and established cider drinkers to sample the product.

Friels cider is the first bottled cider in the UK to be produced with no added sulphites.

Creative director Rob Bowdery commented: “The use of a retro pin-up girl from the 1940s/50s as the symbol of this refreshing product refers back to an earlier and more innocent age of natural purity that we felt offered an accurate reflection of Friels cider.

“The visual identity we’ve developed for Friels cider also pays homage to a classic period of commercial art that we feel has growing appeal in the current digital world.”

In addition to developing the visual identity for this new product, Write Angle has also created supporting 48 sheet posters, billboards, promotional leaflets and an interactive website for Friels cider www.frielscider.co.uk.
