Sense Internet has created a way for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to raise awareness of the effects of climate change at the local level, by designing and launching an interactive online game.

The game supports the information taught in schools but is suited to all visitors to the website.

"We saw an interactive game as the most cost efficient way to engage web users of all ages and help them think about the effects of climate change," says Sense Internet managing director Aidan Cook. "The outcome of the game depends partly on a throw of the online dice, echoing the real-world situation of the risky economic and environmental climate we're living in at the moment.

"The game also addresses related issues such as litter and recycling, all of which, alongside predicted higher temperatures, can impact on the Dales."

Stuart Willis of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority says: "A key target for the game is teachers. We worked closely with Sense to enable the game to be a valuable teaching resource and help raise awareness among teachers of the broader educational resources supplied by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. This in turn should increase interest in the authority as a relevant source of educational material and increase school and family visits to the Dales.
