Reading Room is currently working with True North having been appointed by The People’s History Museum to create the website for the new £12m Manchester based museum.

It is understood that the Manchester-based-digital agency beat three other agencies in a tender and has now been tasked with creating the web presence of the museum which will open later this year.

The website is likely to be the first piece of communications to launch in the Autumn, featuring the new branding which is being designed by True North.

True North has been developing the branding for the museum since its appointment at the end of October last year.

Karen Moore, head of marketing for The People’s History Museum, explained that the brief was still to be fully formed as the agency had only recently been appointed, so no launch campaign strategy had yet been outlined.

She said: “We want the website to reflect the museum, the brand and our tone of voice as more people are likely to visit the website than will ever visit the museum. Hopefully people will see what we’re about on the website and we’ll be able to turn that into footfall and that is the importance of have a good online presence. The building has a £12m budget and the website needs to reflect that as well.”
