Liverpool John Lennon Airport has appointed PR consultancy Paver Smith to promote flying from the airport for long-haul journeys.

Paver Smith has been awarded a three-month contract to "communicate the benefits" of using the route from Liverpool via Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam to reach long-haul destinations.

The airline KLM started using the route in the spring and has seen a "strong" take-up of passengers beginning their journey in Liverpool and flying onwards to destinations such as Shanghai, Cape Town and Sydney, according to Paver Smith.

“It’s quicker, more convenient and a lot less stressful to fly long-haul via Schiphol than Heathrow,” said the agency's managing director, Dougal Paver.

“Our campaign communicates these core benefits in lots of creative ways and research tells us that once people understand them they are prepared to change their flying habits," he added.

In separate news, Paver Smith has also been appointed on retainers by management consultancy Cheeky Monkeys and Belle Vue greyhound stadium in Manchester.
