Scottish arts organisations gathered at a cultural summit in Glasgow last week to galvanise the country's passion for the arts and award audience achievement by the city's venues.

Arts managers, directors and marketers gathered in the city for the annual conference which aimed to deliver more audiences for the arts.

The event, entitled ‘Spreading the Love’, discussed local and national policies that influence how and why people attend the arts and assess ways to enhance the potential benefits and appeal of the arts.

The annual conference was devised for the fourth year by Glasgow Grows Audiences (GGA), the city’s marketing, research and development agency.

Awards were presented for Audience Insight (The Citizens' Theatre); Audience Development Pioneer (Glasgow Film Theatre); Audience Development Initiative of the Year (Royal Scottish National Orchestra); and Audience Development Leadership (Jackie Shearer, director, Platform)

Julie Tait, director of Glasgow Grows Audiences, said: “The energy, ideas and tangible actions that emerge from the conference never ceases to amaze us. It’s a platform for change and we applaud the organisations in Scotland who innovate and drive arts participation, thereby securing a future for the arts in this country.”
