Following the closure of recruitment company Blue Skies’ Manchester office, two of its former employees have opened a new recruitment agency, Beyond the Book.

Anna Smith and Sally Moist have opened their own company aimed at clients and freelancers in marketing.

The move follows that of Fiona Christian, former business leader at Blue Skies launching Perfect Marketing People, Gareth Wright launching The Little Black Book Agency and Helen Salt’s PR recruitment consultancy Black Cherry Recruitment.

The pair were previously based at the Blue Skies Stratford office.

Smith commented: “I spent over a decade at top marketing agencies, climbing the account management ranks," she said, "and it’s given me true insight, empathy and passion for the industry. My experience and abilities allow me to naturally focus on the perfect brief, to deliver the right people, manage the process impeccably and treat clients the way they like to be treated."

Co-founder Sally Moist said, “We're investing enormous amount of time meeting freelancers and prospective clients. This is a people business and our way is the only way to deliver a truly premium service.”

Smith continued: "Of course the marketing and creative industry is one of only a few industries where people out of work can call themselves a ‘freelancer’ but we're in the wheat and chaff separation business and know that a good freelancer is far more than a set of skills.

"Some have warned us that it's not a good time to be launching when the freelance market has slowed down so much, but we believe many clients seeking freelance support suffer terribly from the sheer volume of job seekers knocking at their door and the volume attracted with their own searches- which is where we come in.

"We can deliver the right people and we can deliver them quickly. Beyond The Book operate in all locations. It’s the only way to attract and manage a movable feast of talent."
