Iris Manchester has named Code Computerlove's James Barley as its new digital head and also recruited McCann Worldgroup's regional director for Europe for MasterCard, Tom Cunningham.

Barley, an account director at Code, has over a decade's experience designing new media solutions for clients including Microsoft and Orange and, in his role as digital director, will advise the agency's clients about online opportunities as part of integrated or standalone campaigns.

Before joining Code in 2006, he was a new media project manager at With, head of new media at Paver Downes and had spells in web design roles in London including senior web designer for Igloo Media.

Cunningham, meanwhile, takes up a group account director role and will work alongside Iris Manchester's managing director, Lindsay Wall, to drive the agency's key accounts.

He joined McCann five years ago and he worked on pan-European campaigns including MasterCard's sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup. He was previously an account director for Momentum, another McCann agency, and held senior account handling roles at Chilli Marketing Communications between 2001 and 2004.

Wall said: “The established agencies in the region are either struggling at digital or trying new ways to look at it more professionally. As we have with our other integrated disciplines, the only way to do this properly is to invest time, effort and money and get a specialist on board."
