Tewkesbury-based public relations consultancy Vivid has been awarded a national contract by the Health Professions Council (HPC).

The HPC is soon to become the regulatory body for the psychology profession, the first time throughout the UK that there will be a statutory regulation of practitioner psychologists. The register will list practitioners which meet the council's standards.

Over the next six months, Vivid will oversee a PR campaign when the HPC launches its register of psychologists.

Vivid director Caroline Rawlinson said: "The legislation for the registration of psychologists will pass through the Scottish Parliament and the House of Commons in early July and we will be launching our PR campaign before then to ensure key audiences are aware of the register.

"Our campaign will focus on members of the public, GPs, people who refer patients to psychologists and psychologists who will need to register with the council."
