Creative agency KLM is hunting for a new creative director after it emerged that Gary Setchell is returning to McCann Erickson Birmingham to become its new CD.
Setchell joined KLM in March 2008 as creative director from McCann Birmingham, where he was a creative group head.
Commenting on his return to McCann, Setchell said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at KLM – great people and clients - and wasn’t looking for a move at all. But the opportunity to return to McCann as CD was one I just couldn’t ignore.”
KLM chairman, Jon Derry, added: “Gary’s made a really positive contribution to our creative product in his time with us - we’re sorry to see him go. His replacement will inherit a strong team doing excellent work – they will have a lot to live up to.”
The Drum recently reported on McCann's search for a new creative director and Setchell is expected to be joined at the agency by a soon-to-be-confirmed non-executive creative director.

Having partnered Gaz for nearly four years, I can honestly say that if he offers to double my salary, he'll be the best art director I've ever worked with. Seriously though, good luck, fella - sure you'll be a big success.

A typical, just-what-I'd-expect-from-an-ex-colleague comment.
