Six Scottish TV programme makers have joined forces to form a new independent production company which will produce new factual programming.

Matchlight will be half funded by its executive team and London-based DCD Media.

It will be headed up by David Smith, former head of business and legal affairs at IWC Media who will act as managing director.

The rest of the company will include producer and directors Ross Wilson who will act as creative director and Iain Scollay, Jacqui Hayden – head of development who also joins from IWC and Russell Leven and Andrew Abbot joining from production house Nobles Gate in Edinburgh.

Wilson and Scollay both join from the BBC where they were on rolling contracts.

The aim of the company will be to specialise in ‘high end’ factual programming and look to win UK and International commissions beginning with the production of a Channel 4 documentary.
