The Learning and Skills Council has appointed Brahm to handle its national apprenticeships marketing campaign in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Brahm won the account following a three-way pitch against unnamed agencies.

The agency will work on a campaign that aims to inform and educate employers across the region about the benefits of employing apprentices.

Leeds-based Brahm will also engage with key business organisations in the region to promote the diverse range of apprenticeships available, spanning from the catering industry to engineering, business administration, sports, leisure and the creative industries.

The regional activity supports the national campaign led by self-made business leader and star of The Apprentice, Sir Alan Sugar.

A nationwide TV ad, currently being screened, shows Sugar talking to apprentices and talking about the impact apprentices can have in today's business world because they "Make things happen".

Mohammed Naeem, regional marketing manager at the Learning and Skills Council, said: “This campaign aims to show employers and individuals how vital Apprenticeships are to developing skills for success at work and in business, and particularly in the current recession.

"Employing an apprentice or undertaking an apprenticeship is an investment in the future and research has shown that companies that do not train their workforce are 2.5 times more likely to fail than those that do – with Brahm’s help we want to get this compelling message across.”

Tim Downs, head of Brahm PR, added: " As an agency, we understand the importance of investing in and supporting good people and hope that by communicating the excellent resource, advice and skills that LSC can offer to apprentices and employers, we can improve the perception of apprenticeships.”
