MadebyPi to aid digital talent retention in Yorkshire
The University of Huddersfield’s school of art, design and architecture (ada) network is to work with MadebyPi to help with retaining talented digital graduates to the Yorkshire area.
Chris Hemingway, creative director of MadebyPi is working alongside the University and has already begun to witness a deeper relationship evolve between the local creative and education industries.
The ada network is a communications platform that encourages activity between the various disciplines and the design industry; establishing valuable communities of practice.
Hemmingway explained: “We believe that investing in the next generation of creative practitioners will help us shape the future of new media in Yorkshire. At MadeByPi® we aim to nurture undergraduate and graduate talent that will harness best practices in the real world.
“If we are able to foster an environment that will encourage and retain more of the talented graduates they won’t feel the need to relocate, taking their skills and fresh talent away from the region. Local industry offers fantastic opportunities and a good work/life balance. If the region continues to prove its skills and expertise in the digital arena, we would expect the trend for marketing budgets to continue to flow up to Yorkshire.”
Tracy Lannon, project manager at the ada network, conituned: “By working with industry experts like those within MadeByPi, we are able to prepare our students for work life. We value the exchange of ideas as it helps us to ensure that the curriculum is current and relevant to today’s needs and fits the ambitions of our students. We work closely with employers to ensure our graduates develop the right creative, technical and entrepreneurial skills as well as business knowledge and understanding.”
