Weber Shandwick has appointed Jo Leah, MD of its Manchester office to its global board.

Leah joins as the company announced that the office has generated a growth of nearly 30% in the last year.

Leah has been with the company for 11 years having sold her consultancy IPG to start up Weber Shandwick in the city.

She will join the UK board with special co-responsibility for the UK consumer practice and a remit to create Weber’s first dedicated digital hub outside of London.

Leah says “It’s great to have the official nod on what we all knew was a record year and the board appointment was a nice touch. We are now in a robust position for the year ahead and have some great client partnerships to work with.”

Meanwhile, Independent educational charity, The Smallpeice Trust, has enlisted the support of the agency to support the national launch of its new online engineering games.

Weber Shandwick will provide regional and national PR support for the charity to help encourage participation in schools across the UK. In addition, the team will launch a survey to gauge perception of the engineering industry amongst key stakeholders and school children.

Weber Shandwick will also deliver an advocacy outreach programme aimed at bridging the gap between industry and academia.

Finally, Nadia Kassas has joined from Mere PR after three and half years there. She will work primarily with Aldi, as well as with the corporate team’s rapidly expanding client portfolio.
