Just a few days after announcing new members of staff joining the company’s PR division, Fifth Ring has announced that it has made three of its digital media and marketing and its production departments redundant.

The Aberdeen agency is understood to have made the move due to ‘market conditions.’

Clif Collier, group managing director at Fifth Ring explained to The Drum: “The wider economic situation has meant many businesses have had to adjust accordingly. This difficult decision to make three of our team in Aberdeen redundant has not been taken lightly and was made only after a very thorough review of market conditions. Two people from Digital Media & Marketing and one from Production have been made redundant. The recent acquisition of Ken Sturgeon Marketing and the digital marketing expertise Ken’s team offers, meant there was always going to be period of rationalisation and realignment of our business objectives.”

Collier continued:“It has been necessary to conduct a review, taking into account current business levels in digital media and production. This review helps ensure long-term stability and enables us to focus on the areas of the business where we are experiencing significant growth, namely Brand and Strategy and Public Relations where we have recently recruited. The company is in a strong position and is well-placed to provide clients with our fully integrated corporate communications service.”

Fifth Ring now employs 78 people: 32 in Aberdeen, 24 in Houston and 22 in Dubai.
