Mark Gorman, co-founder of 1576 Advertising and chairman of the Scottish Marketing Association, has been appointed as a board advisor at Manchester-based Corporation Pop.

Joining the team to drive Corporation Pop’s business and marketing strategy, Gorman will be integral in shaping the growth of the design agency in Manchester.

Dom Raban, managing director at Corporation Pop, said: “Mark has been working with us since last spring and has made a real impact on refining the direction of the company. Second Life is a real focus for us, and we’ve already seen the benefits it has brought many of our clients. We are looking forward to further developing this side of the business. We are delighted that Mark is joining us as a key member of our senior management team and we look to 2009 with optimism and excitement.”

With more than 20 years’ experience in the marketing services industry, Gorman is proprietor of marketing consultancy, Think Hard. Previously he was group account director at The Leith Agency before leaving in 1994 to form his own agency 1576 Advertising, which he left in 2003.

Gorman commented: “I’ve already watched Corporation Pop go from strength to strength over the last year. I hope that the experience I have gained over the last 20 years will be of value in supporting the team at Corporation Pop and help them in further developing the business.”

In 2008 Corporation Pop saw an increase in sales of 134% over the previous year and several high profile new business wins including United Utilities, EMI and University of Central Lancashire.
