Developer Land Securities has appointed Leicester based Untitled, Leeds based DS Emotion and Edinburgh based Tsuko as part of its first formal roster for its retail portfolio.

The agencies will work alongside London group Next Big Thing, which will act as "the lead among equals", Small Black Room and Design House while Johnson Banks has also been retained for strategic work.

The appointments were made following an initial list of 15 agencies, which were cut down to the final roster.

The need for the roster comes as Land Securities looks to set consistent standards across its marketing and visual communications for its retail portfolio.

Instead of being lead by a marketing team, the company’s directors will award projects which will range from the rebranding of shopping centers to promotions literature and websites depending on the performance and merits of those on the roster, creating competition for work.

The company, which has 1600 commercial retail tenants, is made up of three core businesses, retail, its London portfolio and its outsourcing business Trillium.
